Thank you Rebecca for being my ride along.
An early day today as I started some laundry for my wet things from the rainstorm. Also I called my daughter Mila, it’s her last, first day of school! Senior year!
Yay Mila, you are going to crush Senior year! Tennis, mock trial, college apps! Woohoo!!
We had a short 44 miles to Bozeman with an early re-route on I-90 for a downed power line. Oh well. I-90, my old friend.
We were surprised by an encounter with our friend Pat, who coached with Tom at VQ Chicago with the lot of us( Dan, Chris, Bob, Tom, John and Jeffrey). Pat lives in Big Sky and recently returned from a Trek trip to the Pyrenees. Wow! We heard about that at dinner where she and her husband Bob generously hosted me, Dan and Chris and Brent and Rae who were guides on Her xc trip. A lovely night with lovely company. She reported beautiful weather, short days with a lot of climbing. Her next bike adventure is Australia and Tasmania in the winter. Wow indeed. Pat is what you call an active semi-retired woman!
Bozeman has it goin on and the downtown is very walkable with lots of shopping, coffee shops and restaurants. I found a cute vintage store and got a cuff and ring.
We are now Two weeks into this! I remember back in the day when my sister went traveling for months. This was a time without cell phones and we back home had a rough idea of her itinerary and could write letters to ‘general post’ for her to pick up at the post office. Now I can get a text in the middle of a canyon in Montana and check in here. How different a few decades changes our capacity for connection and place.
