Fairmont

Thank you to Dawn for being my ride along. This was a familiar route for her from South Dakota to WI.

Today was a long day and I was happy to cross into state #7! Yaaay! Cause it was such a long day I had a mini meltdown when we had a detour adding 4 miles to our 126 and it was in a gravel road. I was so tired and tired of the wind. My A team rallied and were sweet and supportive helping me to finish. It was only 6 more miles but it seemed like our endpoint, Fairmont, was fictional and that our Purgatory was an endless road infinity loop of hell. But it is real and we finally made it. Ok then I cried for a while in the shower too. I’m very tired and sitting with ice bags on my legs.

What comes up for me is fatigue and the cues for rest. These got trained out of me during medical school, residency and afterwards and I had to push through and deny myself rest for decades. So when I’m pushed to my limit and wanting rest I get frustrated like a two year old needing a nap but doesn’t know how to self-assess to know what she needs. I’m working on it and my A team is here to help me through it and wants to help. Thanks guys.

  1. Hi – I am following you with amazement ! If you would have made plans to go to Mars instead of this trip I would have the same reaction to it – why? But by reading the stories I am starting to understand why now. And how you are able to do it with your incredible drive. If you don’t have enough music I can put some tracks together for you ?some ABBA for sure! Lmk – I’ll keep following you and I’ll keep being amazed by you ! Sending hugs – love and encouragement! ❤️
