Thank you Colette for being my ride along and for all you do for us in Wausau, you are a gem!
Missoula was Chilly at 0715 as we rode out of the Doubletree hotel. Our legs and butts had 24 hours rest and were reluctant to spin again. There was fire somewhere, must be a big one too because smoke and haze filled the sky and kept the sun at bay all day I to Helena.
We saw a bald eagle too. Then at 0917, our paceline fell apart when one rider’s wheel kissed another and he went tumbling down, I was behind and didn’t have notice or time to stop from colliding and spilling onto the shoulder of I-90. Our A-team orthopedist John was on scene and making his assessments immediately and soon we were up and back to the rest of our 116 miles today. Yes, I have scrapes and bruises but am fine. J.C. Has a bigger spill and was struggling enough by mile 88 that he got a ride in.
Not my favorite day, with the smoke, the spill, the 5 mile climb at mile 95, the Labor Day traffic- a C minus.
We did see a used Cow lot.
Also met a father- son duo coming home from the youngster’s first rodeo where he rode a steer.
