Carolyn thank you for being my live ride along today! She was doing the door county century as I was doing my ride! Way to go Carolyn!
Today was a shorter day at ‘only’ 76 miles. Our A team included Brian today so we had another person To our Pavlina through the fields. The day started with a crossing of the Missouri River. Way back in Wyoming in Three Forks we were at the origin of this river- if memory serves. It was a quiet, peaceful morning with a few fishing boats out. We had a slow climb up from the river and very little after that. We over our way from one frontage road to another flanking I-90 and headed East. Roads are straight, some of the surfaces could be improved significantly but an uneventful day overall.
Oh, but wait! At dinner we were told we are halfway on our mileage! More miles behind then in front of us. Wow.
Mitchell is a larger town than I thought it would be. It is home of the Corn Palace, which is a draw. The murals this year are of famous South Dakotans- Bob Barker Of the Price is Right- “Come on Down” he’d say of the audience contestants. That show was a summer vacation daytime TV staple in the early 80’s.
Tomorrow is another under 100 for mileage to Sioux Falls. What a treat!!
More miles behind than ahead!
Way to go, Anita! Wishing you many days of tailwind to finish your amazing journey. –Mary Kluz
