Big shout out to Mila, my daughter, for being my ride along. She sent me encouragement messages and a few playlists ( from my favorite Peloton instructor Dennis Morton) to keep me going yesterday. Also shout out to Honza who is keeping all the balls in the air at home and at work. This a long time for me to be away and it wouldn’t happen without your support. It’s a BIG ask.
Our ride into Ohio was a long one of 120 miles and I rode with Andrew. Southern MI is a lot of lovely lake country and small farms. We had a first van stop at a nature preserve before we were on a bike trail for 10 miles. I also stepped nice and deep into dog poop ☹️. It was still a beautiful place. We missed the bald eagle but saw swans and cranes, herons too.
We crossed into Ohio around mile 86- state #10! The woman who lives on that bordering house, whose neighbor is in Michigan, took our picture. We rolled into outlying towns and historic neighborhoods outside of Toledo and Mae our way to the hotel about 5. We had a detour due to a stopped train that wasn’t moving for over 30 minutes. In the end it was 123 miles.
We don’t have another super century, whew, and today is a lot of bike trail. So I’m hoping for an active recovery type day. I got breakfast starting soon and more skin care ‘down there’ to attend to.
Signing off in Ohio
New York is in the distance!!!!!!!
